The Trans Derwent Swim is a staple of the Royal Hobart regatta traditionally held on the Sunday. Catering for 100+ competitors the event is 45 minute time trial spanning 1.5km of river swimming that commences at Montagu Bay and concludes at the Regatta Grounds.
An ultimate ‘bucket list’ item the dark and brooding waters of the river attract a healthy number of local and interstate participants.
In 2022 a ‘Double Derwent Swim’ was held in which swimmers returned to the point of origin adjacent to Montagu Bay.
