Rowing has as proud history as a staple of tradition at the Royal Hobart Regatta. In 1838 local and visiting whaler crews competed for glory and prize money battling over a triangular course commencing at ‘Hunter Point’.
In more recent times a new course has evolved starting in the arches of the Tasman bridge and cutting a 1100 metre course across the Regatta foreshore. Consistently attracting high entry, the programme culminates in the race for the Denis-Mounie perpetual trophy for qualifying ‘eights’.
